Advocacy: Proxy Advisors

The Society (through its Corporate Practices Committee) typically submits comment letters to Glass Lewis and ISS in response to their annual policy surveys. Depending on the circumstances, the Society also evaluates and weighs in on proxy advisors’ governance rating changes, new product offerings, and other matters, especially when prompted by members’ concerns and experiences.

In addition to proxy guideline-related comment letters, the Society has submitted letters to ISS in response to changes in its cybersecurity ratings (2021) and the naming of its “Board-Aligned” policy offering (2023). The Society also monitors the release of new policies and informs members about proposed and final policy changes through the Society Alert and other communications.
